Publishing through Windows XP

From Windows XP Professional, you can connect to a WebDAV publishing directory on another server. IIS 5.1 is not installed by default on Windows XP Professional. Therefore, if you did not select IIS 5.1 among the options to install, you have to install it manually. To Install IIS, see Installing IIS.

To connect to a WebDAV directory through Windows XP
  1. Click Start, click My Computer, click My Network Places.
  2. Double-click Add Network Place.
  3. In the Add Network Place Wizard, type the URL of the WebDAV directory you want to connect to.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Type a friendly name for the directory you are connecting to.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. Double-click My Network Places. You will see the friendly name of the Web Folder for the WebDAV site. For example, if you typed My Publishing Folder as the friendly name, you will see Shortcut to My Publishing Folder.
  8. Double-click the Web Folder name.
  9. Double-click Shortcut to My Publishing Folder. A list of the files in that directory appears.
